2nd Podium Of 2024 For Bacon At Allercott Pits
Tyre-Line and CR Products backed rider, Joe Bacon, takes 2nd place at Alercott Pitts
Tyre-Line and CR Products backed rider, Joe Bacon, has taken his 2nd podium of the 2024 season with a brilliant 2nd place at the 3rd round of this year’s DQR NORA Motorsport British Quad XC Championship at Allercott Pits nr Minehead.
Held on Sunday 16th June (fathers day in the UK) and set amongst the rolling hills of Exmoor national park, the Allercott Pits club put on a fantastic 6.2 mile track with a mix of all terrains and speeds, with huge elevation change’s from the bottom to the top of the track and the feedback from riders was it was one of the best tracks ever!
Joe, riding his Polaris Scrambler XP 1000S, took a fantastic 2nd place in the 4x4 Clubman class and supplied us with the following report :-
“On Fathers Day weekend, we made the 10 hour round trip to Round 3 of the British championship at Allercott Pits, Exmoor. Having had a shakey experience with this track in the past I was a bit apprehensive, not to mention the added pressure of Jacqui & Richard from my sponsors Tyre-Line coming to watch!
I got a really good start, despite lining up on the 2nd row of the grid, and settled into 3rd after the first corner. Quickly moving up to 2nd on lap 1 with a brief exchange putting me back down to 3rd, but a quick decision on line choice put me straight back into the number 2 spot, where I sat for the remainder of the race steadily increasing the gap to 3rd place ending at approximately 4 mins in front come the finish. Massive credit to the @dragonquadracing24 team for putting on a fresh track on a long used location.
The decision to use the ITP Mud Lite tyres supplied by Tyre-Line was a decision I thanked myself for as the race went on, they provided the grip needed for the grassy hills and the muddy climbs also a massive thank you to @dpbrakesracing @dpbrakes.uk for producing the best quality brake pads they were definitely needed. Drive power was definitely needed to climb the hills & get the power down and my CR Products supplied Ultimax Drive Belt’s proved to be more than upto the task.
A few bits to work on the bike with some exciting things planned. Time to get in the garage and start prepping for Round 4 & 5 double header on the 20th & 21st July.
See you there”
