Strength
Tests have proven that Alcoa® wheels are up to 5 times stronger than their steel equivalent. To show this, wheels are placed in a press until the wheel deforms by 5cm, results from this are that Alcoa®wheels can withstand a load of 71,200kg before it deforms and a steel wheel is deformed by 5cm at only 13,700kg!!
Impact Tests
The Japanese JWL tests simulate a vehicle hitting a curb at a speed of 50 km/h, the test involves a 910kg weight is dropped onto the assembly. The results are that:
- Steel wheels have excessive deformation and air loss
- Cast aluminium wheels break
- Alcoa® wheels pass successfully!!

The Dura-Bright® patented treatment keeps Dura-Bright® wheels bright and shiny without polishing. The treatment penetrates the the aluminium making it an integral part to the wheel. This means it does not chip, crack or peel away link other conventional coatings.

Ultra ONE®
Ultra ONE® are Alcoa® Wheels lightest and strongest wheels.
They are made of the proprietary MagnaForce® alloy technology.
This alloy is 17 percent stronger than the currently existing industry standard, allowing to create lighter wheels without compromising on their strength.

Specialised Applications
WorkHorse®Wheels
- Disc brake protection and increased wheel load
- Designed without ventilation holes to protect the disc brakes from sand and gravel.
- Mainly used on construction vehicles with disc brakes.

Dura-Flange®
Dura-Flange® Alcoa® Wheels have a proprietary treatment that provides a protective shield to reduce rim flange wear, giving them up to double the lifetime compared to other aluminium wheels under the same conditions.
Road tested
- Dura-Flange® Alcoa® Wheels show no signs of rim flange wear after 386.000 km.
Dura-Flange® wheels are the most appropriate for transport where loads are heavy and prone to shifting, causing the tyre bead to rub against the wheel flange, such as:
- Transport under extreme conditions, e.g. mining
